Former president Donald Trump announced he would slash energy prices by half if he were elected president this November.
During a rally in North Carolina at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center on Wednesday, the GOP presidential nominee said he aimed to reach that objective in less than two years of his second term.
“I am announcing today that, under my leadership, the U.S. will commit to the ambitious goal of slashing energy and electricity prices by half — at least. Half!” Trump said.
“We intend to slash prices in half within 12 months, at a maximum of 18 months,” he continued.
Trump said, “Every single thing that I promised, I produced.”
He added:
“We think that your energy bills will be down by 50%-70%,” he added.
“How good would that be for a thing called inflation?”

Since Joe Biden took office, gas prices have risen 50% despite efforts to lower them during a time of high inflation through sales from strategic oil reserves.
Trump also warned that the Democratic Party’s presidential ticket, Vice President Kamala Harris, would be unable to end the economic crisis.
Harris will only “make it worse,” he warned.
Trump also noted that Harris stole his idea to nix taxes on tips, adding that she is now waiting to announce her economic policy vision until he reveals his “so she can copy it.”
“She can’t solve the problem, because she is the problem,” Trump said of Harris.
“She really is. People like her.”
The former president also touted his proposal to cut taxes that senior citizens pay on Social Security benefits.
“To help seniors on fixed incomes who are suffering the ravages of inflation, there will be no tax on Social Security!” Trump explained.
“We’re going to stop it.”
Trump also highlighted his idea to shift money from renewable energy priorities under the Biden-Harris administration to infrastructure projects.
“To further combat inflation, I will terminate Kamala Harris’ ‘green new scam’ and … give all of the unspent funds back to building roads, bridges and give it back to the government,” Trump said.
“It’s like what she did, what they did, it’s like throwing billions of dollars out the window.”
The former president added he wanted to end the rising costs of groceries, gas, and homes. It’s just “common sense,” he declared.
Trump ended with rallying support for defeating Harris and her “country destroying liberal agenda.”
