Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was caught offering kind words for far-left CNN host Jake Tapper on Wednesday after the cameras appeared to turn dark.
During an exchange following Johnson’s long appearance on CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper, he told the host, “You’re always fair.”
Johnson joined the Tapper remotely from outside the House floor in the Capitol.
The Republican speaker said he had known Tapper for a long time.
Tapper has been slated to be among those fired as CNN’s new CEO evaluates ratings and on-air talent.
However, a spokesperson for Tapper said, “talk of his ouster is false.”

Johnson also used his appearance on CNN to tout his Biden-endorsed foreign aid package, which would send billions in American taxpayer aid to Ukraine.
Since becoming Speaker, Johnson has made several high-profile reversals, including a reversal on the Foreign Service Intelligence Act, supporting a FISA extension that passed earlier in April.
Because of Jognson’s flip-flopping, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is threatening to oust Johnson from the speakership.
