Migrant rioters attacked the Mayor’s home in a Paris suburb in France, forcing his wife and children to flee as the mob attempted to burn his house to the ground.
The Mayor’s wife and one child were injured in what is being described as an “assassination attempt.”
Valeurs Actuelles reported the violent mob attacked the home of Mayor Vincent Jeanbrun in Paris suburb L’Haÿ-les-Roses
On Sunday morning, Vincent Jeanbrun was at town hall while his wife and two children were home alone when rioters broke down the gates with a burning vehicle.
The mob set fire to the house, garbage cans, and the family car while shooting fireworks at the home as the Mayor’s terrified wife and kids were inside.
The Mayor’s wife eventually fled the Paris home lifting their children over the wall to the neighbors’ yard as the rioters swarmed the house.
The wife and one of the children were hospitalized with fractures, and the two children were “very traumatized,” FranceInfo reports.
Public prosecutor Stéphane Hardouin said the attackers most likely intended “to burn down the house.”
“Initial findings lead us to believe that the vehicle was launched to burn down the bungalow,” the public prosecutor told the press. “An accelerant was discovered in a bottle of coke.”
Jeanbrun called it an “incredibly cowardly assassination attempt” and a “milestone in horror and disgrace.”
“My determination to serve and protect my country is greater than ever,” Jeanbrun said. “I will never back down.”
The worst rioting occurred in the port city of Marseilles last night, where 719 arrests were made on Saturday night.
Five hundred seventy-seven vehicles were torched, 74 buildings were set on fire, and 871 fires were set on streets.
French riot police were seen deploying en mass in cities to make arrests:
