Rand Paul Announces Official Criminal Referral for Fauci: Email Shows COVID Testimony Was Absolutely a Lie

Republican Senator Rand Paul announced an “official criminal referral” to the Department of Justice for Anthony Fauci on Monday.

Paul Pointed to an email from February 2020 where Fauci detailed a call with British medical researcher and then-director of the Wellcome Trust, Jeremy Farrar.

Fauci said those on the task-force call, including Francis Collins, former director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, and other “highly credible” scientists expressed concern about the “fact upon viewing the sequences of several isolates of the nCoV, there were mutations in the virus that would be most unusual to have evolved naturally in the bats and that there was a suspicion that this mutation was intentionally inserted.”

According to a screenshot of an email shared by RealClearPolitics, Fauci wrote:

“The suspicion was heightened by the fact that scientists in Wuhan University are known to have been working on gain-of-function experiments to determine the molecular mechanisms associated with bat viruses adapting to human infection, and the outbreak originated in Wuhan.”

Responding to the revelations, Paul wrote on Twitter:

“This directly contradicts everything he said in the committee hearing to me, denying absolutely that they funded any gain of function, and it’s absolutely a lie. That’s why I sent an official criminal referral to the DOJ.”

Back in July 2021, Paul reminded Fauci that lying to Congress is a federal crime, suggesting that the NIAID director had done so with regard to COVID-19 gain-of-function research.

However, Fauci insisted at the time that he had “never lied before Congress” during prior testimony in May.

During the exchange, Fauci told Paul that “you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Fauci also denied that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded gain-of-function research, despite a journal article titled “Discovery of a rich gene pool of bat SARS-related coronaviruses,” which Paul cited.

Paul noted how the paper’s author credits the NIH and lists the actual number of the grant given by the NIH, despite Fauci’s claims.

As The New York Post notes:

The author took two bat coronavirus spike genes and combined them with SARs-related backbone to create new viruses that are not found in nature, and the lab-created viruses were then shown to replicate in humans, Paul said during the July congressional hearing.

“Viruses that in nature only infect animals were manipulated in the Wuhan lab to gain the function of infecting humans,” he said.

Fauci claimed the paper to which Paul referred “was judged by qualified staff up and down the chain as not being gain of function.”

“Let’s read from the NIH definition of ‘gain of function,'” Paul said.

“This is the definition that you guys wrote. It says that ‘scientific research that increases the transmissibility among mammals is gain of function.'”

“They took animal viruses that only occur in animals, and they increased their transmissibility to humans. How you can say that’s not gain of function – it’s a dance, and you’re dancing around this because you’re trying to obscure responsibility for 4 million people dying around the world from a pandemic.”

Weeks before the criminal referral, Rand Paul slammed Fauci over revelations the “retired” ex-NIAID is privy to a taxpayer-funded security detail.

According to documents obtained by “Jesse Watters Primetime” from the US Marshals Service, marshals took over security responsibility from the Department of Health & Human Services at the beginning of 2023.

In June, Paul sent a letter to HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra demanding additional details about Fauci’s current employment status and the taxpayer-funded benefits he enjoys.

Host Jesse Watters said a source’s tip led to a FOIA request to the US Marshals, revealing the taxpayer-funded security detail Fauci is receiving.

According to Watters, the documents also stated Fauci’s perks include limousine transportation.

This is an actual law being broken. This is not “OBSTRUCTION” or some other PROCESS CRIME, it’s a literal crime to lie to Congress while under oath. They don’t have to imagine it like they do with Trump, and that means nothing will be done. Real crime by our U.S. Government is ignored.

Rand Paul has officially become just a talker. When he said there’s not enough proof to Impeach Biden, he lost my respect. Period.

With his recent statement that there’s not enough evidence to impeach Biden, Rand Paul has become just another tough talker.

At least Paul is giving it a shot. I do applaud him. However, I think we all know that the corrupt DOJ is more likely to voluntarily disband than they are to prosecute Fauci.
