A 72-year-old man from Florida was arrested after police discovered a massive stash of child porn weighing over a ton in his home.
Paul Zittel was taken into police custody on Thursday after officers received a tip claiming multiple files depicting child pornography were uploaded to the internet, according to a statement from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective Chase King told WCJB-TV that police traced the IP address to the residence of Paul Zittel before they found the stash of child porn.
Zittel was arrested after police performed a search warrant at his address and found more than 200,000 printed images of children.
They also found a printer in his possession, which displayed signs of heavy use.
Zittel was arrested on 25 counts of possession of child pornography.
Authorities allege the physical prints in the 50 boxes weighed approximately 2,600 pounds — more than one ton.
“The main difference in this one is that it is all in a printed physical form where is, a lot of times, we’re seeing it on thumb drives or computers in a digital format,” said King.
The sheriff’s office said the man would never allow his roommates to enter his bedroom or office without an escort, KATV reported.
King went on to warn parents about giving their unfettered access to the internet, and the risks it poses.
“Always keep taps on what your kids are doing because what they can get into on the internet in ten seconds can lead to a world and lifetime of trauma and problems,” he said.
Zittel is now at the Marion County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
