A woman in Phoneix was arrested over the weekend for allegedly tossing a red liquid onto Vice President Kamala Harris’ motorcade.
Anasilvia Gomez-Zamora was arrested and taken into custody following the incident.
The woman showered the motorcade with the unknown liquid near 7th Street and Southern Avenue.
She was also charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
Fox News reported:
According to Phoenix Police, the woman was standing on a sidewalk near where the motorcade was driving when she threw a red liquid. The liquid landed on eight Phoenix Police officers on motorcycles.
“The motor officers were able to continue the motorcade as they progressed through their route. Other officers in the area were able to locate and arrest the woman responsible,” Sgt. Phil Krynsky told Fox 10.
AZ Central reported:
Before 6 p.m. Friday, Harris’ motorcade was passing Seventh Street and Alta Vista Road when the woman threw an unidentified red liquid at the motorcade from the sidewalk, according to Sgt. Phil Krynsky, a spokesperson for the Phoenix Police Department.
The liquid landed on eight Phoenix police officers, according to Krynsky. The officers continued traveling with the motorcade, and it proceeded on its route uninterrupted.
Officers in the area located and arrested the woman. She faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer, endangerment and resisting arrest, Phoenix police said.
Police have not revealed information about the woman’s motive.
Harris visited South Mountain Community Center in Phoenix on Friday to speak at a rally supporting reproductive freedom.
The news comes amid reports that Harris could possibly replace Joe Biden on the fall ballot, as the president’s polls continue to plummet.
The Hill reported:
For the past three years, Harris has been mired below Biden in approval and in any ballot test against Trump. She had sunk so low that Team Biden (likely) gave Pete Buttigieg a tryout in the 2022 midterms. Newsom raised his own profile, along with other Democratic, hopefuls in case Republicans romped, mortally wounding Biden.
