Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi admitted Joe Biden may drop out of the 2024 race, then smirked and dodged the question when asked if she thinks Kamala Harris should run to be elected Vice president.
When Pelosi was asked if she thought “there’s any chance (Biden) does not continue running” and drop out of the 2024 race, she gave a less-than-definitive: “I hope not, I hope not.”
While Biden faces growing questions over his cognitive abilities from both Democrats and Republicans, Kamala Harris recently said she is prepared to be president “if necessary.”
Pelosi gave a non-answer to Anderson Cooper when asked if Harris was “the best running mate for this president.”
“He thinks so, and that’s what matters. She’s very politically astute. I don’t think people give her enough credit,” Pelosi said.
“Her values are consistent with the president’s values. Why would she be vice president if she were not?” she added.
When Cooper pressed again, Pelosi continued to dodge the question while appearing to smirk as she spoke.
“She’s the vice president of the United States. People say to me, well, why isn’t she doing this or that? I say because she’s the vice president. That’s the job description. You don’t do that much,” Pelosi said.

While on the subject of Biden’s impeachment inquiry, Pelosi warned Democrats that another Trump presidency would be a disaster for the country.
“I think nothing less is at stake than our democracy in this election,” Pelosi said, according to The Hill.
“You hear that in the country. You hear that globally. And we have to remove all doubt that our democracy is strong.”
“We have to prove through the night, with the certainty of this election, that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for all as we pledge every day,” she continued.
Earlier this week, Pelosi admitted that she is seeking reelection mainly because she needs to raise money.
“My focus is the House and presidency; you’re in a stronger position as a candidate,” Pelosi told Politico in the interview.
“You may not know this, but if you’re not a candidate, you really can’t raise money for yourself, Pelosi said as she argued her case for reelection.
