Singer Sam Smith is facing heavy backlash for a recent ‘non-age restricted’ show depicting graphic sexual content and Satanic imagery.
Clips from Smith’s show for the “Gloria” world tour on April 12 in Sheffield, UK, began circulating online within minutes.
However, even some Sam Smith fans expressed shock the show was not age-restricted due to its overtly sexual content.
“Imagine taking your kids & paying good money to see this perverse freak show,” one person wrote. “The fact he is even relevant demonstrates clearly our dying society.”
“An all ages show with many children present. Sam Smith is a dangerous man, this is profound child abuse,” another person wrote in the caption to a clip of Smith performing while dressed as Satan and gyrating on stage.
At one point in the show, Smith, who identifies as “non-binary,” stipped down to his underwear, fishnet tights, and black boots, revealing nothing but nipple pasties while performing a cover of Madonna’s song “Human Nature.”
Despite the show having no age restriction, the Ticketmaster site notes that an adult must accompany attendees under 15, but it did not advertise any restrictions.
One mother posted a video noting how her five-year-old mimics all of Smith’s dance moves:
“5 year old girl attended Sam Smiths concert last night. The singer thanked her for coming and the child’s mother said ‘she copies all your dance moves,'” Oli London posted.
“This is the same concert where Sam Smith performed satanic fetish sex acts on stage. Are these dance moves something children should be copying?”
Smith drew backlash earlier this year for the overtly sexual song “Unholy” at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
“People like Sam Smith who love to mock Christianity and use Satanic themes always think they’re super edgy artists by doing it. In reality it’s not edgy. It’s boring, vile, rehashed shock tactics that Hollywood seals clap for because they’re evil & stupid,” commentator Robby Starbuck tweeted at the time.
