Former President Barack Obama visited the White House for a private meeting with Joe Biden, reportedly warning him not to “underestimate” Donald Trump given his campaigning strength alongside an energized GOP.
Obama delivered his advice to Biden during lunch in the White House residence last month, promising he would “do all he could” to drive his 2024 re-election campaign, The Washington Post reports.
The outlet also revealed Obama was visiting the White House for a “catch-up.”
Obama reportedly concerns were more focused on Trump’s iron grip on the Republican Party and not that Joe Biden has no clue what planet he is on.
Obama reportedly warned Biden that Trump could be a more formidable candidate than many Democrats realize
Obama adviser Eric Schulz revealed the ex-president and his team “place a huge emphasis on finding creative ways to reach new audiences, especially tools that can be directly tied to voter mobilization or volunteer activations,” according to a statement to the Post.
“We are deliberate in picking our moments because our objective is to move the needle,” he added.
However, the news comes just weeks after reports said Obama is working behind the scenes to replace Joe Biden because he is “too old” to win.
As The Daily Fetched reported earlier this month:
Reports surfaced earlier this month that Obama was holding a secret meeting in Washington, D.C., to rally Democratic congressional support to replace Biden atop the party’s 2024 ticket.
Obama recently hosted several meetings with younger House Democrats which took place over cheese and crackers in Obama’s Washington office,” Politico’s Jonathan Martin reported.
While it is unclear what was discussed, the low-profile meeting raises questions about why Obama would get involved at this point, especially as Joe Biden appears to be becoming a liability.
The meeting featured younger Democratic congressional leaders and former administration staffers at Obama’s D.C. office, RadarOnline.com noted.
“Obama recognizes the gravity of the situation with Joe’s disappointing poll numbers,” said a Beltway insider.
“He had hoped that the president would have rallied and come into his own at this point, but that hasn’t happened.
“With 2024 growing closer and closer, he had to act since he apparently fears Joe is getting too old and frail to win,” the insider noted further.
