Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) said that Biden’s disastrous handling of the border would probably lose him the election while admitting the border was not a problem under President Donald Trump.
During an interview with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC, Romney discussed border security and illegal immigration, which has now become one of the top issues for voters throughout Biden’s presidency.
“People have been screaming about the border for all three and a half years Joe Biden has been president,” Romney said.
“He’s not done anything to solve the problem of the border.”
“That’s a huge issue for President Trump, I can’t understand why President Biden didn’t tackle this from the beginning.”
Romney said Trump was strong on the issue, which was one of the reasons he won in 2016.
He also believes Trump’s rigid stance on the border issue will propel him to victory in November.
“If I were President Biden, I’d be all over that, and instead he served it to President Trump on a silver platter,” Romney said.
Romney noted the issue of border security and illegal immigration “was not a problem when President Trump was president.”
“When he was president, he did a lot of things that sounded pretty ugly, but we didn’t have anywhere near the number of people that have come into the country illegally as we have under President Biden, and that’s something he should have done everything in his power, frankly, take some actions that maybe the courts would have stopped, then he’d have a better argument saying, ‘Hey, Congress needed to act,’ but he never did that,” Romney said.
“As a result, the American people are saying, ‘Hey, I want something else.'”

As we highlighted in February, the majority of Americans now support a border wall on the U.S. southern border with Mexico.
The Daily Mail reported:
A new poll shows that the majority of Americans now support a wall on the southern border as the issue of illegal immigration intensifies ahead of the 2024 election.
A Monmouth poll released Monday shows that 53 percent of Americans now support building a wall on the southern border with Mexico. Forty-six percent still oppose it.
