A museum in Minneapolis held a family-friendly’ event to summon a demon in what it describes as a “collective and playful demon summoning session.”
The Walker Art Center, which receives tax dollars, invited both parents and children to participate in the demonic event.
“Demons have a bad reputation, but maybe we’re just not very good at getting to know them,” an advertisement on the museum’s website read.

The Messenger reported:
The event, which was hosted by artist Tamar Ettun, was broken into two parts. First, visitors worked with Ettun to design a vessel for “the demon that knows them best,” with some examples including the “demon of overthinking” or “the demon of not trusting your gut,” the museum website explained.
“[Lilit] will come from the dark side of the moon to lead you in locating your feelings using ancient Babylonian techniques,” the website said.
Lilit, or Lilith, is described as Adam’s first wife in the Garden of Eden.
She also features heavily in Ettun’s artwork through a variety of media, including paintings, performances, and videos.
Ettun even created a phone number for Lilit, which receives messages from hundreds of people each month.
People can also text the number and receive in-character messages from Ettun.
The Walker Art Center event concluded, “with a somatic movement meditation, designed to help you befriend your shadows.”
The demon-summoning ceremony at the Minneapolis museum is part of the Free First Saturday program.
The monthly program rings families into the museum, granting them free admission into the museum gallery.
