Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy predicted that if President Joe Biden remains the Democratic nominee for 2024, former President Donald Trump “will win” and establish a Republican majority.
In a “CBS Sunday Morning” clip posted on X, McCarthy sat down with reporter Robert Costa to discuss the 2024 election.
In a preview of the interview, McCarthy discussed his predictions for 2024 if the ticket is Biden versus Trump.
Costa asked McCarthy about his views on Trump.
“Will Donald Trump be the nominee?” Costa asked.
“Yes. In the Republican Party? Yes,” the former House Speaker said.
“And if Biden stays as the nominee for the Democrats, I believe Donald Trump will win.”
“I believe that Republicans will gain more seats in the House and the Republicans will win the Senate,” McCarthy stated.
“Can he count on your support?” Costa questioned.
McCarthy answered with a simple “yes.”
Costs then asked his confirmation was “an endorsement.”
The former House Speaker responded by saying he would “support the president,” referring to Trump.
“I will support the president. I will support President Trump,” McCarthy stated.
“Would you be willing to serve in a Trump cabinet?” Costa questioned.
“In the right position. And look, if I’m the best person for the job? Yes.”
“Look, I worked with President Trump on a lot of policies. We worked together to win the majority, but we also have a relationship where we’re very honest with one another,” McCarthy stated.

Earlier this month, Trump predicted that Biden will not face him in 2024.
“You know, they’ve been working on that very hard,” Trump said to attendees at his rally in Iowa.
“You know, they always say disinformation and misinformation, almost the same, but not quite. But disinformation and misinformation, they always say, ‘We want to really run against Trump.’ |”
“If they want to run against me, they wouldn’t have indicted me four times and fought like hell to keep me off the ballot,” he added.
“But the fake news, and the stupid people at The Wall Street Journal editorial board, they said the other day, ‘well, they really want to run against Trump.”
