The man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump has been reportedly identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, PA.
Trump was was truck in the ear and a rally attendee killed during Saturday’s rally in Pennsylvania.
Bethel Park is approximately 40 miles south of Butler, the New York Post reported
Crooks was reportedly positioned on the roof at a manufacturing plant approximately 130 yards away from the rally.
After several rounds here, Crooks was killed by Secret Service snipers.
An AR-style rifle was recovered at the scene.
Kevin Rojek, a Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, said the investigation was ongoing.
“The FBI has deployed a number of our resources, including investigative agents, our evidence response team, bomb technicians, and we have additional resources coming from other field offices, as well as from FBI headquarters,” Rojek told reporters.

“We have intelligence analysts as well, working from our field office in Pittsburgh, working feverishly to identify the individual who did this and any motives behind why this was done.”
Rojek called on eyewitnesses to report any suspicious or pertinent information to the FBI by phone or online.
“This evening we had, what we’re calling an assassination attempt against our former president, Donald Trump. It’s still an active crime scene,” he continued.
“At this time, we are not prepared to identify who this shooter is. We are close to that identification, and as soon as we are 100% confident in who that individual is, we will share it with the press.”
“With that being said also, we do not currently have an identified motive, although our investigators are working tirelessly to attempt to identify what that motive was,” Rojek added.
Crooks fired upon Trump from the roof of the building nearby, which had not been cleared by the Secret Service for an unknown reason.

Multiple eyewitnesses reported seeing Crooks climb the building with a rifle
A video posted of the incident saw Trump struck in the ear as counter-snipers returned fire at the assassin.
Another video of the incident saw Crooks’ lifeless body after being killed by Secret Service agents.

Crooks was 20-years-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania which was about 40 miles south of the Butler rally.
