A man has been arrested following a three-hour search after he allegedly attempted to carjack a victim with a hammer and a stolen chainsaw in Virginia on Monday.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, officials apprehended Devin Laws, 26, of Blackwater, following a search using a K-9 unit and a drone.
Officials said they found brass knuckles in Laws’ possessions when they found him.
Deputies responded to a disturbance around 7 a.m. after a 911 call from the alleged victim reported she was parked in a driveway when a stranger approached her with a chainsaw and a hammer, Fox News reported.
The victim said Laws grabbed her car door handle as he lifted the hammer in an attempt to smash the car window.
The driver managed to escape by quickly driving away, deputies said.
While searching for Law, deputies said another resident flagged them down to report another crime.
The resident reported waking up to a noise in his home in the early hours to discover the same carjacking suspect in his home.

When deputies finally located Laws, he said he was doing landscaping work in the area.
