US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, made a stunning addition to a French journalist that the Iraq war was a “lie.”
While Kerry argued the West must hold Putin to account for the war in Ukraine, he was then asked: “to show that the West follows principles… should we also judge Bush for Iraq?… [w] asn’t that a crime of assault as well?”
John Kerry, who supported the war in Iraq, admitted the casus belli was a lie but then exuded the fact that over a million people died and spending of trillions on the war, as The National Pulse noted.
“Well, we didn’t know it was a lie at the time; the evidence that was produced, people did not know that there was a lie.”
Watch
While Kerry claimed he did not want to “relitigate the Iraq war,” he appeared to blame then-President George Bush.
“We gave the President the power, regrettably, in Congress based on the lie, and when we knew it was a lie, people stood up and did the right thing,” Kerry said.
However, it’s not clear what Kerry meant by “the right thing,” as o one in the US government has ever been held responsible for the “lie” that claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians.
Kerry went on to claim he opposed the military invasion of Iraq, which has been fact-checked as “false” multiple times.
In 2002, Kerry voted in favor of the resolution supporting the Iraq war.
Kerry argued in a speech on the Senate floor on October 9, 2002:
“Let me be clear, the vote I will give to the President is for one reason and one reason only: To disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction; if we cannot accomplish that objective through new, tough weapons inspections in a joint concert with our allies.”
