“Joe the Plumber,” the name given to the man who famously confronted then-candidate Barack Obama in 2008 on his tax plan, has died at 49.
According to Ohio locals, Joseph Wurzelbacher, or “Joe the Plumber,” recently passed away on Sunday.
Wurzelbacher had been living with pancreatic cancer before his death.
The Air Force veteran plumber became famous and known as “Joe the plumber after questioning Obama policies at a 2007 Ohio event.
In an interview with Faithwire in July, Wurzelbacher spoke about his faith in God and his relationship with his family.
In 2008, Wurzelbacher confronted Obama about his plans to raise taxes on some small businesses.

Wurzelbacher became representative of those who were negatively impacted by Obama’s policies.
A GiveSendGo fundraiser was set up to help Wurzelbacher’s family with medical expenses during his illness, raising more than $120,000 as of Sunday.
Wurzelbacher is survived by his widow and four children.
“God doesn’t promise us an easy road,” the father said after his cancer diagnosis.
“He just promises to be there for us when we go on these roads.”
