Democrat John Fetterman’s first day back isn’t going well after several observers were stunned by his “horrifying” opening statement after returning to the Senate after an extended period of hospitalization.
Fetterman suffered a stroke last May while on the campaign trail.
The Senator has now resumed his position as the chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Food and Nutrition, Specialty Crops, Organics, and Research.
However, a clip of Fetterman’s opening remarks was described as choppy, and it appears he is not all there.
Podcaster, Jewels Jones, described the clip as “frightening.” At the same time, the communications director for Republican Rep. Byron Donalds from Florida, Harrison Fields, joked about Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s response to the clip.

“Remember when they scolded you for criticizing a man with a ‘disability’ during his campaign?” reporter Breanna Morelo noted online. “Well—here he is attempting to do his job after coming back from a 2 month vacation…”
Reporter Savannah Hernandez noted on Twitter she has “heard second graders with better reading abilities than this.”
“This is just sad,” Hernandez added.
“John Fetterman is chairing a senate subcommittee and this was his opening statement. Good lord. This dude is not remotely well or able to do this job. Embarrassing for Pennsylvania,” Outkick’s Clay Travis noted.
Sokesperson for Fetterman, Joe Calvello, defended the Senator, telling Fox News he thinks it is “a sad but true fact of life that some people seem to get their jollies attacking John for the auditory processing issues resulting from his stroke but they’re just shouting into the wind.”
“Republicans already tried emptying the arsenal attacking John’s health and Pennsylvanians had his back in a big way,” Calvello said. “As a senator, John is fighting for forgotten communities and all of the people of Pennsylvania, regardless of their social media habits.”
Videos and photos and photos of Fetterman’s appearance quickly went viral, leading to fresh concerns from Republicans about the Senators’ mental health.
The Pennsylvania Democrat showed up sporting a black hoodie and shorts, looking anything but ready to start work.
The Senator declined to answer questions from the press as he entered the Capitol.
“It’s great to be back. Thank you,” he repeatedly said as he walked into the building.

Fetterman’s arrival and appearance became the subject of controversy and debate.
“Welcome back to John Fetterman, further proof that cognition, speech comprehension, emotional balance, and even showing up for work are no longer necessary for a career in Democrat politics!” Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk noted.
“How could anyone take the calls for @SenFeinstein to step down seriously when the DEMs spend more than a year excusing the deteriorating health of @JohnFetterman? If you supported Fetterman running for Senate or didn’t raise concerns about his health, please take several seats,” Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) added.
Earlier this week, Fetterman was also forced respond to rumors of him having a body double
As The Daily Fetched reported:
Rumors began swirling that Fetterman had a body double after George Papadopoulos posted a photo of the Senator from 2022.
Fetterman’s wife, Giselle, posted a photo of the ‘new and improved’ Fetterman, which appeared to look nothing like the 2022 version that Papadopoulos posted.
Fetterman’s change in appearance didn’t go unnoticed by Twitter, as many theorized it was a body double, while some even suggested it was a clone.
Regardless of the theories, Fetterman is not mentally fit enough for the job.
