Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has admitted Joe Biden has an “age issue” which poses a “challenge” for his 2024 run.
However, the former Secretary of State stopped short of saying Biden’s age would affect his chances of winning, urging voters to look beyond the president’s advancing years and embrace his so-called “record” instead.
During an interview at the Financial Times Weekend Festival in Washington, Hillary Clinton said Biden has an “age is an issue, and people have every right to consider.”
Clinton’s remarks came after FT editor Edward Luce pointed to Biden couldn’t handle a simple set of stairs during last week’s G-7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.

“There was that heart-stopping moment when he almost fell over coming down the stairs a day or two ago,” Luce said.
“Every time that happens, your heart is in your mouth because these things could be consequential. Is that a concern?”
“It’s a concern for anyone. We’ve had presidents who had fallen before who were a lot younger, and people didn’t go into heart palpitations,” Clinton replied.
Clinton added that she believes Biden is determined to run for another term, claiming he has a “good record” in office.
“But, you know, he has this great saying — and I think he’s right — don’t judge him for running against the Almighty but against the alternative. I am of the camp that I think he’s determined to run.”
She also claimed Biden rarely gets the credit he deserves “in terms of jobs and growth and planning for the future with CHIPS and other stuff.”
“So, I obviously hope he stays very focused and able to compete in the election because I think he can be re-elected, and that’s what we should all hope for.”
Joe Biden will be the oldest president in American history and will turn 81 years old on Election Day.
Last month, Biden’s close advisers expressed concern about his age and “diminished” ahead of his 2024 presidential campaign.
As The Daily Fetched reported:
According to recent polling, 67 percent of voters believe Biden is too old to be commander inc chief, while 6 percent have doubts about his mental fitness.
Meanwhile, even Biden’s advisers are worried “his age has diminished his energy” and will affect his performance in the rigorous 2024 campaign.
“Many White House officials say they’re amazed at Biden’s stamina — often adding the caveat: ‘for his age,'” the report from Axios said before revealing that Biden does not like to hold public or private events outside the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“Some White House officials say it’s difficult to schedule public or private events with the president in the morning, in the evening, or on weekends: The vast majority of Biden’s public events happen on weekdays, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m,” according to Axios.
