More than $44,000 worth of Legos meant for children diagnosed with cancer were stolen from a Florida warehouse.
The gift-giving was initiated by V for Victory, an organization that helps young cancer patients.
V for Victory’s founder, Paul Scott, expressed anger over the loss but promised the gifts would be replaced.
“It’s a great program for the kids because it takes something that is all negative for most children, which is going getting chemo or getting a spinal or getting anything like that,” he said.
“It takes something it’s 100% negative, and it makes it a positive,” Scott said, according to News4Jax.
Scott, who started the organization after his own son’s cancer diagnosis, said the toys bring immense value to children undergoing treatment,
“Because we as a family had the means that every time, you know, he had some sort of surgery or something like that, that we would go to Target afterwards and buy him a Lego set,” Scott shared.
“It really changed the mindset of a lot of children and helped families because something that was so negative, you know, we’re able to slightly turn it into a positive.”

The Messenger reported: In an effort to “end the year on a good note” despite the thefts, V Pizza announced some uplifting statistics from its charity programs.
In 2023 alone, the group says it was able to distribute over 2,000 Lego sets to children receiving cancer treatment, provide nearly 28,000 free meals to families in need at V Pizza and raise nearly $400,000 from donations on V Pizza receipts and other fundraisers for V For Victory families.
“Let me remind you that ABSOLUTELY NONE of the things listed above would have been possible without YOU. We cannot thank you enough for giving us another WONDERFUL year to look back and reflect on,” V Pizza said in its post.
“We will bounce back and make 2024 even better!”
