A former NBC chief has been branded a “creep” after attacking Barron Trump online, declaring he is “fair game” now that he has turned 18.
Mike Sington, who was NBC’s Director of Operations in 2016, deleted the tweet he sent at 4:44 a.m., which read:
“Barron Trump turns 18 today. He’s fair game now.”
Sington was labeled a creep by both the right and the left for keeping an eye on the until-now underage former first son.
“He hasn’t bothered anyone and has never gotten involved in politics or made a public statement. He deserves to be left alone. All children of candidates who don’t put themselves out there should be left alone,” wrote Huffington Post reporter Yashar Ali, adding a screenshot of Sington’s erased post.

Conservative White House reporter and former Eric Greitans flak Anthony Hughes called Sington a “creep” for “want[ing] to date Barron Trump!”

Others called the attack on Barron highly inappropriate, as Barron is known for shying away from the spotlight.

Another user unearthed a reply Sington sent to a troll in 2022, in which he asked, “I am? I thought I was a groomer and pedophile.”

Others rushed to Barron’s defense, describing him as hardworking and courteous to his Florida prep school classmates.
“My friend’s daughter goes to school with him and says he’s a really nice and thoughtful young man,” Deb Robinson wrote in response to Ali’s take.
Barron has kept a low profile during his father’s 2024 campaign.
According to sources, both Barron and Melania are focused on making sure he selects the right fit for his life’s next four formative years.
“Melania’s main job is taking care of Barron, and I think it’s possible that she will follow him wherever he goes to school,” the social source told PEOPLE.
“Barron is shy and reserved, and she has been a good mother to him all of these years.”
