Ford Motor Company’s new ad featuring a truck sporting LGBT colors has attracted criticism after the campaign claims the company is “redefining tough.”
In the commercial, two Ford Raptor pick-up trucks covered in sand race through the terrain.
Later in the ad, it is revealed one Ford truck is sporting an LGBT rainbow flag, including the transgender flag before it races ahead of the other truck.
The commercial ends with the ‘REDIFINING TOUGH’ as the ‘TOUGH’ part of the text flashes with LGBT colors.
Whoever is calling the shots on Ford’s marketing team must think that normalizing the sexual mutilation of children is somehow “tough.”
Have they learned anything?
While the commercial is over ten months old and was produced by the European division of Ford, the clip has only just started to gain attention on Twitter.
Twitter users unsurprisingly torched the commercial.
Another user highlighted the license plate shown on the ‘gay’ vehicle.
Ford may have to brace itself for some heavy blowback if the recent boycott of Bud Light following its partnership with transgender celebrity Dylan Mulvaney is anything to go by.
Conservative political commentator, Dave Rubin blasted “the obsession to market everything” towards the LGBTQ+ community.
“Why would you be marketing towards a very niche audience?” he asked.
“What gay person is walking in when you want to buy a car… ‘Well, which one of these trucks is gayer? Do you have this in rainbow?’ None of it makes any sense,” he continued.
