Elon Musk has announced his company, X, will pay the legal finances needed for the a Canadian doctor who was targeted after after speaking out against COVID lockdowns and vaccine mandates.
Dr. Kulvinder Kaur Gill had her life savings drained after having to fight legal battles following her decison to speak out against draconian lockdowns during the pandmeic.
In a recent annoucment, X said it was “proud to help defend Dr. Kulvinder Kaur Gill against the government-supported efforts to cancel her speech.”
X goes on to note:
Dr. Gill “spoke out publicly on Twitter (now X) in opposition to the Canadian and Ontario governments’ COVID lockdown efforts and vaccination mandates, she was harassed by the legacy media, censored by prior Twitter management, and subjected to investigations and disciplinary proceedings by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario that resulted in ‘cautions’ being placed on her permanent public record.”
“Free speech is the bedrock of democracy and a critical defense against totalitarianism in all forms,” the company continued.
“We must do whatever we can to protect it, and at X we will always fight to protect your right to speak freely.”
“When Elon Musk learned earlier this week about her crowdfunding campaign to pay the judgment, he pledged to help. X will now fund the rest of Dr. Gill’s campaign so that she can pay her $300,000 judgment and her legal bills,” the announcement further noted.

The move comes after Musk promised to finance the legal battles for people targeted for speaking out in in X/Twitter posts.
The Tesla CEO is also financing mixed martial artist Gina Carano in her lawsuit against Disney, after the company unfairly fired her from the Star Wars spin off ‘The Mandalorian’ due to her political beliefs on cultural issues.

Musk became aware of the doctore after she appeared on a podcast with Dr Jay Bhattacharya to discuss how she had been targeted for speaking out agaisnt lockdowns.

Dr. @dockaurG was right about the devastation caused by lockdowns and deserves the support.
Meanwhile, X is facing other legal battles, including one against pro-censorship organisation Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), who attempted to get advertisers to boycott the platform.
