Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has declared war on Apple this week, threatening to ditch its plans to integrate OpenAI’s woke ChatGPT into operating systems.
The big tech giant announced on Monday it would be integrating ChatGPT into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
Apple users would be able to access ChatGPT’s capabilities, including image and document understanding, without needing to switch tools on their devices.
The integrations would also allow Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, to tap into ChatGPT’s intelligence.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a statement:
“We’re excited to partner with Apple to bring ChatGPT to their users in a new way. Apple shares our commitment to safety and innovation, and this partnership aligns with OpenAI’s mission to make advanced AI accessible to everyone.”
“Together with Apple, we’re making it easier for people to benefit from what AI can offer.”
“It’s personal, powerful, and private—and it’s integrated into the apps you rely on every day.”
“Introducing Apple Intelligence—our next chapter in AI,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
Musk responded to Tim Cook’s announcement:
“Don’t want it. Either stop this creepy spyware, or all Apple devices will be banned from the premises of my companies.”

Either stop this creepy spyware or all Apple devices will be banned from the premises of my companies.
Musk added in a separate post:
“If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation.”
“And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage.”

The X owner warned about the potential privacy and security implications of Apple’s partnership with OpenAI, saying that by handing over user data to OpenAI, Apple is essentially “selling [users] down the river” and has “no clue what’s actually going on.”
It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy!

Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river.
Musk says it’s “not out of the question” that he might create his own phone to rival Apple.

Besides privacy concerns, artificial intelligence tools are wreaking havoc in other ways.
Other AI tools, such as Adobe’s Firefly, recently came under fire for making racist alterations to official history.
The Daily Mail and Semafor made the discovery after making similar prompts which exposed Google Gemini’s rewriting of racial history last month.
The Daily Mail reported:
“When asked to picture Vikings, they made the Norsemen black, and in scenes showing the Founding Fathers, both black men and women were inserted into roles.”
