Democratic strategists are reportedly in full-blown panic mode over fears Donald Trump will politically slaughter Joe Biden ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
A new ABC News/Washington Post survey showed to key figures on Sunday.
The first one showed Trump would beat Biden in a hypothetical matchup by a significant margin.
The second one show that not even a majority of Democratic voters want Biden to be the party’s nominee again.
That poll, like many others, has painted a grim picture for Democrats.
Not only does Biden stand to lose re-election, but Trump could beat him this time.
“Be very f***ing worried,” said one of the Democratic strategists fearing Trump will beat Biden in 2024.
According to The Blaze:
Another strategist explained that he feels Democratic operatives are living with cognitive dissonance, such that they misunderstand the Trump phenomenon, why he remains popular, and what that means for the Biden campaign.
“There is a concern from a lot of people like me, for sure,” that strategist said.
“There’s a disconnect between the consultant class of our party and the voters. They think they can just run a bunch of ads talking about how crazy Donald Trump is [and] that will be enough. That’s just not the case.”
As The New York Times reported, Democrats fear Biden and his campaign do not rightly understand the task before them.
From the Times:
“Democratic allies worry, some in public and more in private, that Mr. Biden and his political team — whose successes have come chiefly by running against Donald J. Trump rather than through organic liberal enthusiasm — are not displaying the necessary urgency for the coming battle.“
Meanwhile, most Republicans now say Trump is by far the “strongest candidate” for 2024, according to a recent survey from The Economist/YouGov.
The survey asked respondents, “Do you think that Donald Trump is the strongest candidate that Republicans could nominate for president in 2024?”
Fifty-four percent of Republicans said “yes,” Trump is the strongest candidate.
Meanwhile, even more, Trump 2020 voters, 57 percent, agreed that Trump is the strongest candidate for 2024.
A further 54 percent of conservative voters also said Trump was the “strongest candidate” as well.
