CNN host David Chalian seethed with anger when reporting on a poll showing the majority of Republican voters in Virginia and North Carolina believe the 2020 election was “rigged” in Joe Biden’s favor.
A vast majority of GOP voters in those states also said they would support Donald Trump even if he were convicted of a crime.
Voters in Virginia were split on whether Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 election.
Forty-five percent said “yes” Biden won the 2020 election legitimately.
Forty-six percent for “no” Biden did not win the 2020 election legitimately.
The results were even more pronounced in North Carolina, which appeared to trigger CNN’s David Chalian.
“If you look though, in North Carolina, it’s a different story,” Chalian reported.”
“Far more election deniers in the North Carolina Republican primary electorate,” he added.
“60 percent incorrectly say that Biden did not legitimately win the 2020 election.”
“Only a third, 34 percent, say correctly that Joe Biden did win.”
Watch
Voters gave similar responses when asked if Trump would still be “fit for office” if he were convicted of a crime.
“A majority in Virginia voting in the Republican primary today, 53 percent, say yes,” Chalian continued, appearing perturbed.
“Even as a convicted criminal, Donald Trump is fit for the presidency, 40 percent say no,” Chalian continued.
Sixty-four percent of North Carolina respondents said they would still support Trump if he were convicted of a crime, while 32 percent said they wouldn’t.
Despite Trump’s enormous support, even if he wins in November, Senior House Democrats signaled they may not certify the election results.
As we reported last month, during arguments to consider a Colorado ruling finding Trump ineligible for the ballot, the Supreme Court did not appear persuaded that a single state should be able to remove him.
Several senior Democrats told the Atlantic that there is a possibility of not certifying a Trump 2024 victory if the Supreme Court does not clearly rule on his eligibility.
