A Chinese pastor who escaped communism has warned that America is being taken into a “dark reality’ by the liberal left.
ChinaAid President Bob Fu said the rampant censorship imposed by the left fuelled by cancel culture is now becoming similar to the Chinese Community Party.
Bob Fu, whose non-profit watchdog group monitors the persecution of Christians in China, warned that leftist policies are very close to the “persecution” of Americans.
Speaking with Fox News, he noted the similarities between China’s dictatorship and leftist censorship.
“I observed striking similarities during this COVID dictatorship time between China and, of course, even the United States of America,” Fue said
“I find we are really, in America, descending into a very dark reality that somehow these mayors and governors all of a sudden became emperors…”
Fu fled to the United States after being imprisoned in Beijing for working for the underground Christian church.
After arriving in the U.S., Fu founded ChinaAid to “bring international attention to China’s gross human rights violations and to promote religious freedom and rule of law in China,” his website states.
The Chinese pastor also noted how censorship, similar to communism, has worked its way into the U.S., calling out the media establishment for pushing a radical left narrative, which he describes as “very worrisome.”
“We really cannot let our exceptionalist constitutional democracy yield to this communist style of governance,” he said.
“In China… every day, many of my friends are arrested and serving five years, seven years, nine years imprisonment for simply preaching the gospel and organizing a peaceful worship service.”
Fu also reflected on how mayors and governors have prevented the free exercise of religion during the e COVID-19 pandemic, adding, “This is the most worrisome thing.”
“I feel America, including Canada, and the European countries are coming to this point of active discrimination and perhaps persecution,” he added.
Fu called out California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s crackdowns on worship services in the state.
“I saw the governor of California basically proscribe and order the church to shut down and say not only when they can worship, but how. The ways that he threatened to punish those churches and pastors sometimes were word-for-word exactly the same as what the CCP is using against the Chinese churches,” he said.
Last week, The Daily Fetched reported on Religious believers in China who are now required to register on China’s new government-approved “smart religion” app to attend church services.
ChinaAid reported earlier this month that the provincial government of Henan rolled out the spy app to force all believers to register before they attend churches, mosques, or Buddhist temples.
China’s state-funded “Smart Religion” app, which is developed by the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Henan Province, forces believers to register their name, government ID number, residence, date of birth, and occupation before they can make a reservation.
According to ChinaAid, the app’s rollout is part of the government’s efforts to “strictly manage religion in a comprehensive way” by gathering data about religious believers.
The group also warned that the app would ultimately turn people away from religion.
“These management measures did not stem from the intention to protect the religious rights of religious people but rather are mediums to accomplish political purposes,” the group wrote.
