Communist China responded to a recent report weighing the probability of a major war against Moscow and Beijing, giving the ominous warning, “Those who play with fire will perish by it.”
According to a 145-page report released by the Congressional Commission on the Strategic Posture of the US, the challenge of a nuclear threat is one the country is ill-prepared for.
“It is an existential challenge for which the United States is ill-prepared, unless its leaders make decisions now,” the report states.
The report was produced by a panel of six Democrats and six Republicans following a year of research into the topic.
The report noted that the behavior of Russia and China is “militarily troubling and increasingly aggressive,” which it says has increased “the risk of conflict with two nuclear peers.”

Exploring a possible worst-case scenario, the report focuses on the idea of a possible coalition between Russia and China against the US.
Therefore, American leaders should change the country’s strategic posture and step up its military modernization, according to the experts.
Discussing the report, the newspaper writes:
“The idea of ‘preparing for possible simultaneous wars with Russia and China,’ once a fringe fantasy, has gradually made its way into Washington’s agenda, which is deeply unsettling.”
The article adds:
“If Washington were to adopt even a small portion of the recommendations in this report, the harm and threats it could pose to world peace would be immeasurable and would ultimately backfire on the US itself.”
The piece then issues a warning:
“There is an old Chinese saying: ‘Those who play with fire will perish by it.'”
“This is something that is worth Washington’s careful consideration.”
The article condemned the bipartisan report as reckless for “promoting a nuclear arms race under the banner of ‘deterrence’,” describing this as “a disastrous step backward in history. “
The piece added that the American report was exaggerating the threat posed by China and said that its motivations to create a warlike atmosphere was highly suspicious.
It’s not the first warning that China has given to the US, as relations between the two countries have worsened following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Beijing’s increasingly aggressive stance towards Taiwan.
Last month, the Global Times published an op-ed article containing a warning to the US over its support to Taiwan, whose independence is contested by Beijing.
“The Chinese mainland has never promised to renounce the use of force, and this is the Sword of Damocles hanging over the US government and Taiwan authorities,” the article in the Chinese state-run news outlet read.
“The US keeps arming Taiwan by selling a large amount of weapons and equipment to Taiwan and encouraging Taiwan to ‘reject reunification with force,’ a move that aims to incite tensions across the Straits and will inevitably exacerbate the tension between China and the US which may lead to a conflict,” the Global Times piece added.
The report comes just days after an intelligence and cyber security expert warned World War 3 could begin as early as Sunday.
According to the intelligence insider, the leading player in the war would be China, warning the country seeks to devalue the dollar and shift the global economy towards the Yuan.
Speaking to the British Express, Guy Golan claimed Iran was moving troops across Syria towards its western border with Israel, adding that World War 3 would begin in four regions: Ukraine, Taiwan, Israel, and South Africa.
“I think that it’s not going to be five years; I think it might be five days. Right now, I get massive levels of information,” Golan explained.
“The area of Israel is boiling in the sense that there are both cyber activities from different groups that just started.,” he said.
“Iranians apparently mobilized troops from the east of Syria to the west of Syria. They are looking at Israel as cannon fodder.”
“They [Iran] have prepared for many years. It might happen in the next five days, it might happen in the next five weeks. I think we are on the cusp of something quite cataclysmic.”
Golan says this is important because China has become adept at cyber attacks, giving them a foothold in the cyber war.
Golan went on to note that China’s goal is not domination on any geographical area, but economic domination.
“China has two fronts. One is economy and finances and the other is disruption and bloodshed because they played to the hand of the bullies,” he explained.
