A 29-year-old concealed carry holder was accosted by armed robbers after crashing his car “just south of the West Loop” Wednesday night.
The robbers arrived at the crash scene in a black Dodge Charger, believing their victim was easy prey.
Unfortunately for the robbers, the 29-year-old pulled his weapon out, letting them know they had made a big mistake.
Defensive Gun Use tracker posted an account of the incident on social media:
“The permit holder engaged the robbers in a gunfight in which more than 30 rounds were fired.”

While the victim suffered gunshot wounds to both legs, the robbers were also shot.
The robbers, caught off guard and not expecting armed resistance from their prey, scrambled back into their car and drove to the West Side.
One of the robbers was dropped off in an alley and called 911 for help.
He attempted to distance himself from the attempted robbery by claiming the shooter “in a black Infiniti SUV shot him during a botched robbery.”
However, cops heard a gunshot around the time of the 911 call and witnessed a black Charger speeding away.
Discerning police concluded the gunshot was likely an attempt to add credibility to the criminal’s story.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to both of his legs. The robbers fled but one them – injured by gunfire – later called 911 for help, pretending to have been the victim of an armed robbery himself.

CWB Chicago reported:
Police said the suspected robber, 17, was “very uncooperative” with investigators.
Robbery crews have been making some unwise targeting decisions recently.
On October 28, armed robbers fired a gunshot and pistol-whipped a 48-year-old man in the 4300 block of West Cullerton. The victim fought back, stabbing the gunman with a knife and wrestling away the offender’s firearm, according to a Chicago police spokesperson.
The robbers fled in an SUV and later dumped the fatally injured robber in a West Side alley and drove away.
On October 22, a concealed carry holder got into a shootout with a group of armed robbers in Humboldt Park. The crew had been on a three-hour crime spree until they crossed paths with the armed victim.
Police said the 24-year-old concealed carry holder was standing outside a vehicle in the 3300 block of West Beach when he saw two men get out of a silver sedan.
When the men pulled out guns and opened a woman’s car door, the concealed carry holder intervened, leading to a gunfight.
No injuries were reported.
