The so-called ‘anti-establishment’ punk band Green Day changed the lyrics to their hit single ‘American Idiot’ to insult Trump supporters on a live New Year’s Eve performance.
The band performed their song on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve Rockin’ Eve on ABC, when singer Billie Joe Armstrong opted to change the lyrics to “I’m not part of the MAGA agenda” instead of the song’s actual lyrics, “I’m not part of a redneck agenda.”

It shows how out of touch and clueless the band is; they essentially do the establishment’s bidding while pretending to rage against the system—how embarrassing and sad.
However, Green Day did not escape a roasting on social media, with X owner Elon Musk laughing off the band’s frequent political statements.
“Green Day goes from raging against the machine to milquetoastedly raging for it,” Musk wrote with two laughing emojis.

Another user slammed the band as “boot lickers” for the government, posting a meme showing a boot with financial firms such as BlackRock and other corporate entities written on it while an image of a man has it in his mouth.

This isn’t the first time Armstrong has publicly bashed Trump.
In 2016, ahead of the presidential election, the singer compared Trump to Adolf Hitler.
“The worst problem I see about Trump is who his followers are,” Armstrong told Kerrang! Magazine.
“I actually feel bad for them, because they’re poor, working-class people who can’t get a leg up. They’re pissed off and he’s preyed on their anger. He just said, ‘You have no options and I’m the only one, and I’m going to take care of it myself.’ I mean, that’s f**king Hitler, man!”
Last year, the band led chants of “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA!” during a performance.
