Al Gore has claimed that people having access to ‘non-mainstream media’ news sources is a severe threat to “democracy,”
Gore made the remarks during an appearance at the Cop28 climate change event in Dubai, where other global elites, including Bill Gates and John Kerry, are attending.
According to Gore, social media had “disrupted the balances that used to exist that made representative democracy work much better.”
Gore appeared to be referring to X, formally Twitter, which is working to become a platform for free speech under Elon Musk, unlike Facebook, which has outright banned most Conservative websites.

The former Vice President said democracy relies on a “shared base of knowledge that serves as a basis for reasoning together collectively,” adding that “social media that is dominated by algorithms” upsets this balance.
Gore said people are being pulled down “rabbit holes” by algorithms, which he likened to “the digital equivalent of AR-15s – they ought to be banned, they really ought to be banned!”
Gore claimed:
“It’s an abuse of the public forum” and that social media users were being sucked into echo chambers.
“If you spend too much time in the echo chamber, what’s weaponized is another form of AI, not artificial intelligence, artificial insanity! I’m serious!” he added.

Gore appears to be suggesting that the only echo chamber people should be sucked into is the mainstream media.
Maybe Gore has realized that people can now fact-check his misinformation and are no longer misinformed by corporate media sources.
Remember when Gore predicted the north polar ice cap would be “ice-free” within 5 to 7 years? You can fact-check that by looking at the date because it never happened.
