As America’s southern border is overrun with illegal immigrants flooding into the United States amid the expiration of Title 24, a top GOP leader has called for a top Biden administration official to face impeachment proceedings.
On Thursday, Biden opened the floodgates for a surge of illegal immigrants who will be immune from being summarily deported.
Now, American communities face chaos as federal authorities struggle to deal with the massive influx of migrants as many are beginning to ask who is responsible for this.
However, one high-ranking GOP congressman says he knows the answer.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota has called for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to be impeached, Breitbart reported.
Emmer says that the chaos at the border necessitates Mayorkas’ removal from office.
“It’s not a failure to act — it’s an intentional failure to act. Mayorkas should be impeached,” Emmer said in an interview.
The Republican said Mayorkas and Biden’s open-door policies are putting not just Americans but migrants in grave danger.
“They talk about being humane. Children are disappearing,” Emmer said.
“People are getting killed,” he added.
“You’ve got 80 people that have come across the southern border that are on the terrorist watch list.”
“If you look at the actual law and the precedent that’s been set — and forget about the phony impeachment stuff that the Democrats have been doing for political stunts — this one’s a real, real issue,” Emmer added.
GOP Speaker Kevin McCarthy also said he would seriously look into impeachment of Biden officials.
“The one thing I’ve always said is we’re not like Democrats; we don’t do impeachment just for political purposes,” McCarthy told Breitbart.
“But if something rises to that occasion — that’s why we will do all the homework on what has transpired down here, and if that reaches an impeachment inquiry, we’ll follow through with that.”
McCarthy also noted on Twitter that Biden’s actions have sent a message to the world that “the border is open.”
However, not everyone had faith in McCarthy’s words.
As The Daily Fetched reported, James Woods responded to McCarthy’s tweet chastising Biden for the border crisis.
“SHUT UP AND DO SOMETHING!” Woods wrote tweeted, which has now been deleted.
Regardless of the noise, Mayorkas has neglected his duty to secure the border and protect Americans from harm.
While it is unclear how much of the blame should fall on Mayorkas, it is evident that both he and Biden have a hand in this.
