The director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has declared that COVID-19 is over and no longer a global emergency.
“It’s with great hope that I declare COVID over as a global health emergency,” Ghebreyesus said on Friday.
But the WHO boss stopped short of declaring the pandemic over, saying the threat still prevails in developing countries, The Daily Mail reported.

The news comes as the US announced the final pandemic restrictions would be lifted after Joe Biden declared the pandemic ‘over’ for America.
However, the damage to the global economy due to lockdowns and restrictions continues to wreak havoc.
The WHO declared Covid an international crisis on January 30, 2020, which resulted in unthinkable restrictions that ruined people’s livelihoods worldwide.
“The ending of the emergency is emphatically not the end of Covid as a public health problem,” Prof Mark Woolhouse of the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland, said.
“Rather, it is a recognition that we are no longer seeing major surges in infections, severe illness and death.
“Hopefully, the large wave in China at the beginning of the year – precipitated by that country’s abrupt exit from their Zero Covid strategy – will be the last event of such magnitude.”
Earlier this year, Dr. Fauci admitted that he got the idea for the unprecedented economic lockdowns in America based on the draconian measures taken by the Communist Chinese regime, the Gateway Pundit reported.
“Dr. Lane was very impressed about how from a clinical public health standpoint, the Chinese were handling the isolation, the contact tracing, the building of facilities to take care of people, and that’s what I believed he meant when he said were managing this in a very structured organized way,” Fauci said.
“He did discuss with me that the Chinese 19 had a very organized way of trying to contain the spread in Wuhan and elsewhere. He didn’t get a chance to go to Wuhan, but he was in Beijing, and I believe other cities — at least Beijing —, and he mentioned that they had a very organized well-regimented way of handling the outbreak.”
