It looks like Tucker Carlson isn’t short of job offers after news reports revealed the host may already have one job offer with a salary up to three times more than Fox News was paying him.
According to The Times of San Diego, One America News might be willing to pay $25 million to Carlson to join its network.
“It would be great if we could get Tucker! I might give him around $25 million,” OAN CEO and founder Robert Herring told the outlet. “And he would be well worth that!”
The news comes after OAN tweeted that “Fox News’ loss could be [OAN’s] gain.”
“@RobHerring would like to extend an invitation to Carlson to meet for negotiation,” the network said in a Monday tweet.
While it’s unclear if the salary OAN is offering Tucker Carlson would be annually or over a longer deal, the host’s salary at his previous job at Fox News was $8 million, according to Times of San Diego.
However, a conflicting report from Forbes claimed Carlson was making between $15 million and $20 million a year, according to a person familiar with contract negotiations at Fox and other networks.
But if Times of San Diego’s report is correct and Herring’s offer is yearly, then it would be over three times more than what Carlson was making at Fox News.
However, The Times of San Diego talked to a former employee of the network, who said that due to the outlet’s limited distribution, it lost its deal with DirecTV, which could prevent it from acquiring Carlson.
Broadcaster Eddie McCoven told the outlet that he didn’t think the Carlson deal would be in the works “because with such a small reach now, what budget do they have for such a big name?”
“It remains to be seen if OANN will survive the lawsuit it is facing from Dominion,” McCoven continued.
“Many colleagues tell me they can’t even keep basic newsroom positions staffed. OANN lacks the programming direction needed to support top-tier talk show talent.”
There also could be other offers, including one with former Fox News host founder of The Blaze Glenn Bec.
“We would love to have you here,” Beck said, addressing Carlson during his Monday show.
“You won’t miss a beat,” Beck added. “And together, the two of us will tear it up. Just tear it up.”
Beck also noted the move would end up hurting Fox News more than Carlson.
“I think that will kill Fox, I really do,” Beck said.
“I know so many people that – you know – still kind of like Fox. And they watch the other shows. But they’re like, ‘Tucker, Tucker is the only one that I really trust.'”
Meanwhile, angry subscribers to Fox Nation began dropping their subscriptions after Carlson’s departure.
Fox News released the statement below on Monday:
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and, prior to that, as a contributor.”
“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named,” the statement continued.
