Britain’s science minister has called for artificial Intelligence systems like ChatGPT to help run the government.
Michelle Donelan, an M.P. for the Conservative Party, said officials should not be afraid of embracing A.I. applications like ChatGPT to help the government run the country.
It’s not just the U.K. that is warming up to A.I.
Last week, Romania’s prime minister unveiled what he claims was the world’s first A.I. government advisor.
Donelan reportedly believes that A.I. technology can aid the government, saying it is up to officials to utilize the likes of chatbots in government work.
“We should never be afraid of these technologies. We should be embracing them,” the minister told The Telegraph.
However, Donelan said A.I. to be employed in an advisory roles might not be a good idea, but added that the technology could be used by officials.
“We need to think about what is the use for ChatGPT… just like any other organization would as well,” she said, adding that non-government organizations should already embrace chatbots.
“I think these types of technology are going to create a whole new section of jobs and in areas that we haven’t even thought of, and where this leads us is limitless,” she said — although so far it looks more likely to replace people’s jobs than create them.
“Of course we need regulation in place, we need safeguards. But we should never be afraid of these technologies,” she said.
“We should be embracing them and utilizing them so that they can lead to job creation here in the U.K.”
Donelan’s position on A.I. isn’t shared by all, however, with many businesses warning staff to avoid using aI chatbots over security concerns.
Then, of course, is the leftist bias of ChatGPT, which often refrains from praising right-leaning figures for fear of being “inappropriate.” It does, however, heap praise on left-wing causes.
Emerging A.I. technology is becoming more popular in Europe, with a number of lawmakers saying the tech is the future.
There are also more high-profile opponents of A.I.
Last month, Twitter CEO Elon Musk launched a new effort in the fight against woke artificial intelligence (A.I.), a technology he considers an existential threat to humanity.
Musk approached top “artificial intelligence researchers about forming a new research lab to develop an alternative to ChatGPT,” the most popular A.I. tool to hit the mainstream.
According to Musk, ChatGPT is an example of “training A.I. to be woke.”
As The Daily Fetched reported: The Tesla CEO is recruiting top researcher Igor Babuschkin, who has worked at Alphabet’s DeepMind AI unit and at OpenAI, to help lead the effort in tackling the woke A.I. mind virus.
Elon Musk has voiced concerns about woke AI ChatGPT and the company it was created by, which he co-founded.
“The danger of training A.I. to be woke – in other words, lie – is deadly,” Musk warned not long after ChatGPT launched.
This sucks. I’m still refusing to talk to the robot voice on regular phone calls to like the local bank or grocery store or whatever. I’m pressing buttons, insisting on the option for mute people. Anyone whom is actually talking to robots in any capacity is a total tool, they’re going to get more than they have bargained for. Do not communicate with AI. You are not being told these programs true purposes, nor are you adequately informed of their capabilities and existing reach already. This ChatGP deal is just a novelty, something to acclimate people more to technocratic controls. D-Wave has been in communication with other planes of existence as the Hadron Colliders continue to produce strangelets and dark matter particles at a breathtaking pace. DO NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ROBOTS. It’s that simple. Stop now while you are ahead.
